This morning I was re-arranging the Temple area a little, and moving the consecrated working tools from the house altar to my private altar in my bedroom. Just so anyone visiting wouldn’t have the chance to pick up my consecrated tools and exclaim, “What a pretty knife!”. In doing so, I looked at my Magickal Wands that I have created over the years. One in particular is especially dear to me. I’ve been carving it for nearly 3 years now, if you can believe it. I just do a little, and put it away until I feel like doing more. There’s no rush.
This particular wand has a carved scroll spiraling around it, in which I’ll eventually carve words of power and runes. Then I’ll stain it, and oil it (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) and at long last, it’ll be done.
I also want to make a traditional Ceremonial Wand made of almond wood. Almond wood, we are told, is the ultimate rod of power. The Hebrew words for “A Rod of Almond” enumerate to the prime number 463. The three letters of the three paths on the middle pillar of the Tree of Life also enumerate to 463. Aside from all this, I just think an almond rod would be awesome, especially since almond growing wild is a rare thing in my neighbourhood.
Below are two pics of a walking stick and more pics of staffs created by a friend of mine in Australia. If you’d like to contact him, you can reach him here: shaman_wolf@hotmail.com
Magicians have Magick Wands. Sounds like it belongs on a bumper sticker.

I want to carve another! I have no pics of mine. I was happy with my first, even though I don’t use it much. Maybe I should sleep with it under my pillow. I’d like to start another, maybe a bit more fancy.
I actually don’t connect with wands. I’ve always used knives or folding fans for that purpose. I pick fans that are made out of particular woods for that purpose.
Funny you should write of wands, today of all days. I woke up this morning with a mission in mind: to craft for myself a new wand. I can’t decide between willow and elm, so maybe I will have two on the go. Not that that is unusual for me, I always have multiple projects ongoing. And books. Have you figured out how to add more time to each day?
I think willow would be beautiful, and I think the Druids hold Willow particularly sacred. That would be awesome, when it’s done please show me. More time? Sure: Ancient Magickal recipe. Set all the clocks in your house back 3 hours. Voila!
I read once of a “viral sigil” that has gotten out of control. It’s purpose was to shorten undesired time (like at work) and the consequence of that was the other times stretched out. All I did was read the article and look at the sigil on the page and it seemed to do just that for several days. I said nothing but Boleskine93 had mentioned the time seeming different those days too. I’ve been afraid to go back and look for it, although I might.
Of course when it/they are done I will forward a photo. As for time, it’s interesting how the perception of time changes depending on what the person is doing. I wonder how that affects people who are always miserable?
Naufragio, are you talking about Fotamecus? I have that sigil in one of my GD notebooks.
Yes, that’s it. I found it again at Chaosmatrix. Maybe I’ll get to go home from work sooner.
I use my pen as a wand. It has been around 9 years that I use it. It’s a pen that I use nearly everyday for taking notes, drawing sigils, drawing sketches etc. I find it very powerful.
Using mundane objects as Magickal Tools is often associated with Low Magick, kitchen witches, hedgewitches, etc. All of whom I have great respect for. Ceremonial Magicians try to separate their tools from everyday objects, in the thought that sacred and mundane shouldn’t mix. Of course, that isn’t always the case. I have great respect for anyone who can work Magick using anything, or even nothing. The tools are, after all, just tools. I’m glad you visited; I also was at your blog.

I’m not a particularly good woodworker so I have a lot of respect for those in the community who are. That spiral around the wand is really nice.
I didn’t make my current wand but I did design it. I posted an article on my blog awhile back that describes how I went about it.

I’ll see if I can come up with a photo to upload. The wand turned out to be really beautiful and it has served me well for all sorts of operations.
I just read your awesome article. The thing that impressed me the most was the amount of thought that you have put into this. Consulting 777 is such an important thing for me, and it’s great that there are some who aren’t into the pre-fab wands, but take the time to make/or find a tool that will be an extension of their Will. Photos! We need photos!
Weirdest thing. A few weeks back I got it in my head that I wanted a wand made of European Yew, which is really hard to get for a couple of reasons. Searching online the first place I came across was Oliver’s Wands (which I dislike for a lot of the same reasons). About eight hours, and many wandmakers, later I came across Haunted Woods which had exactly what I was looking for.
Wonderful carving you are quite the talent. I live in Australia and have an area i go to harvest smaller trees to make magical tools.I have a staff made from ficus it stands around 6 foot and is twisted from a vine cutting into the tree itsf I was lucky I didn’t have to carve it. However your work is great.
I can try to post a pic of the staff but have no idea how to post it.
If you email a pic, I’ll post it. Thank you for your kind words, much appreciated!
Thanx mate I’m glad I joined this site. may you and yours find peace joy and happiness during this holiday season and the rest of the years to come.
p.s. dont worry about the world ending today ,it’s already tomorrow in australia

I would sugest instead of using virgin olive oil try toung oil, it is from the seeds of the toung tree.
I have been making wands for about 10 years now and have been using them for over 40 years.
My latest wand is a non-traditional wand that has a carbon fiber body and oak tips. It is good for levitating, vanishing and appearing other objects.
have to admit i use burnishing oil it allows the true buety of the wood to come out.i have painted some of my walking staves usually t clients specs.then i apply a clearcoat just to seal the wood but when useing burnishing oil i dont paint or clearcoat it
it is sealed with the oil.
but i have heard of toung oil, have ised it in the past in furniture making.
Cheers

P.S. using olive oil is usually part of the preperations for magical use the olive is sacred in may religious cultures.
